Old Street Hotel – London
The £24 million development scheme involved the restoration of the former Magistrates Court and Police Station in Old Street. Together with a large new–build bedroom block and basement function area. The 5 Star boutique hotel has been styled to fit with the new modern art and media image. The 128 bedroom hotel includes a mixture of large new rooms and impressive restored rooms within the existing building. A number of new suites have been created with some linking to the roof top bar and function area. The state of the art basement area includes a gym, swimming pool, bowling alley and cinema / screening room. The project commenced in August 2013 and was handed over in August 2015.
In the main areas of the hotel dimming and multi–way zoned control principles are applied to afford the user maximum flexibility in economical use of lighting. Movement detectors are used for lighting control where appropriate. The boilers are gas fired high efficiency models for the provision of hot water to the building along with provision of heating to the AHU heater batteries, LTHW radiators & Pool plant AHU. The use of cross flow heat exchanger air handling units are used as a method of introducing fresh air into the public areas whilst recovering any useful heat from the air being extracted.
