The concept of the building was to have harmony with the surroundings thus having a low carbon footprint, constructed sustainability and to rely primarily on passive sources such as natural ventilation rather than energy intensive measures such as air conditioning. Materials used in the building complemented the forest using a mix of timber glulam beams and copper effect roofs. The building can accommodate approximately 60 people on day training courses and 30 overnight. The facility is a mixture of robust showering and changing areas, rolling canoe pool, hotel type 3 star bedroom accommodation, meeting and conference rooms, dining/lounge areas, self catering and full kitchen.
