Demolition of existing building and construction of a new 7 storey (plus 2 basement levels) 389 bedroom Hub by Premier Inn

The proposed development involved the demolition of low level light industrial buildings and the erection of a ground plus six storey building, with two basement storeys, to provide a hotel use with up to 389 bedrooms.

Retail is to be provided at ground floor (Use Class A1 – A3) and a servicing area will serve both uses.
The scheme is arranged to maximise public activity on the ground floor, with 389 hotel bedrooms provided on upper floors and within the basement levels. The hotel will include an ancillary restaurant and meeting rooms, which will be available for use by customers of the hotel, as well as members of the public and local businesses. A louvered plant enclosure is provided at roof level, which is set back away from the principal building line and is sensitively designed in order to minimise its visibility from street level.
